Cycle Trip Options and Cost

There are two options depending on the day of the week and how much time and energy you have.

OPTION 1: WEEKEND FITNESS CIRCUIT

When: This trip is run in the weekends or public holidays only, primarily to avoid heavy traffic.  The start time will be approximately from sunrise or within an hour after sunrise.

Distance: This is a meandering 28 km circuit

Terrain: Undulating roads, with some hilly parts (see elevation profile below).

Weekend Fitness Circuit elevation profile

Duration:   Approximately 2 to 2.5 hours of cycling, total duration is based on time spent at cafe and markets and other stops etc.

Cost:  NZD$50 per person.  This cost includes bike and helmet.

Highlights:  This trip is a good workout on smooth roads without blowing the gaskets.  Enjoy the harbour views, relatively quiet roads, reserves and parks, a refreshment or two and perhaps a weekend food market.

OPTION 2: MEOLA MEANDER

When: This trip can be run any day of the week, based on our availability.  The start time will be in the early morning, but will be after 9:00 midweek to minimise the peak hour commuter traffic.

Distance: Approximately 21 km

Terrain: Undulating roads, with some hilly parts (see elevation profile below).  Note: this is less hilly than the Weekend Fitness Circuit.

Duration:   Approximately 1.5 to 2 hours of cycling, total duration is based on time spent at cafe and markets and other stops etc.

Cost:  NZD$50 per person.  This cost includes bike and helmet.

Highlights:  This trip has variety for those wanting a less energetic and more relaxed cycle than the Weekend Fitness Circuit.  Enjoy the harbour views, quiet and picturesque coastal suburbs, reserves and parks, a refreshment or two and perhaps a food market if it is the weekend.
